We're doing things a little backward today! Instead of bringing you a #bouquetbreakdown, we're building you a bouquet! In this blog, we will go over one of our favorite Fall themed color palettes and all the flowers that are needed to achieve this look!

To build a bouquet we first start with our color palette! Typically these are colors that the wedding couple has provided to us. The colors usually stem from items like bridesmaid dresses, tuxes, table linens, cakes and of course the season and venue location. For this #buildabouquet we plan to have the bridesmaids in a deep cranberry color and the men in a grey.

Much like the #bouquetbreakdowns, we will give the flowers name, some quick facts, their availability as price range on a scale of $ to $$$$$. Plus as a bonus, we will include a photo of each flower for your reference next to its description.

Orange Cymbidium Orchids: The creme-de-la-creme of wedding flowers, the orchid! These bold blooms are typically associated with more formal weddings and of course luxury. They are often sought after for their status symbol and well, we agree, there is nothing like an orchid. They are available in a wide range of colors from white, blush, mauve, brown, orange and even some funky two-tones colors. Orchids are available year-round and we give them a $$$$$ out of $$$$$ on the expensive scale.

Burnt Orange Ranunculus: You know we had to throw some ranunculus in there! These beautiful blooms come in such a large color range we always use them. This time we selected a burnt orange tone. Ranunculus are super versatile and are very hardy out of water. They are available year-round and we give them a $$$ out of $$$$$ on the expensive scale.

Copper Mums: These copper-colored mums ofter a great alternative to the expensive dahlia. (Hint, see the dahlias below) Their petal structure is fairly similar to the expensive dahlias but for half the cost. One of the best things about mums is that they come in endless amounts of colors and sizes. These mums are available year-round and we give them a $$ out of $$$$$ on the expensive scale.

Burgundy Dahlias: Dahlias are such stunning yet delicate flowers. They have a pretty short vase life and are only expected to live 3 days once cut. While they fetch a fairly high price tag for something with such a short lifespan we think they are totally work it for event work like weddings. Dahlias do not ship well due to their delicate nature so we like to use fresh cut dahlias from local Vermont farms. They are available early summer to late fall. With all that in mind, we give dahlias a $$$$ out of $$$$$ on the expensive scale.

Black Velvet Spray Roses: Spray roses are a great filler flower and just like ranunculus come in a rainbow of colors. While these black velvet spray roses are shown in a standard form but they are also available in the garden rose from as well. Spray roses are available year-round and we give them a $$$ out of $$$$$ on the expensive scale.

Blackberry Scabiosa: Scabiosa is another great filler flower. They are just soft puffs of color That float around the bouquet giving it some movement and texture. Scabiosa is available in a large color range as well from blacks, reds, pinks, purples, and whites. They are available year-round and we give them a $$ out of $$$$$ on the expensive scale.

Red Hanging Amaranthus: Red hanging amaranthus is a new flower to our bouquet breakdown! This unique dramatic draping bloom is best used or cascading bouquets. The individual tiny red blooms have a fuzzy texture that pair well with other fuzzy blooms like astible and scabiosa. Amaranthus is available year-round but we find it looks best in the fall. We give hanging amaranthus a $$$ out of $$$$$ on the expensive scale.

Blue Thistle: Blue thistle is another flower that has great texture that we love to throw in. The quite literal sharp lines and points of this flower are so unique.  When you're thinking you still need something blue for your day, this is almost always our go-to. While we admit we do use the blue color quite often, we find ourselves using the green and purple varieties just as much. Blue thistle is available year-round and we give it a $$ out of $$$$$ on the expensive scale.

Willow Eucalyptus: Willow eucalyptus has long beautiful wispy leaves. While it is not super aromatic like the baby blue eucalyptus it does have a nice hint of eucalyptus scent. It is a wonderful greenery for cascading bouquets as it has a nature drape and incredible movement. Willow eucalyptus is available year-round and most often February through May can be found to have seed pods like the seeded eucalyptus. We give it a $$$ out of $$$$$ on the expensive scale.

Seeded Eucalyptus: A tried and true eucalyptus variety. While not quite as famous as the silver dollar eucalyptus, seeded eucalyptus is definitely gaining traction. We find the seeds give an amazing texture to any bouquet but fit best with rustic or fall weddings. Seeded eucalyptus can be found year-round for the most part. It does go off crop in the early spring and some parts of the year can have cupped seeded instead of the desired green seed pods. We give seeded eucalyptus a $$$ out of $$$$$ rating on our expensive scale.

Agonis: Agonis much like the willow eucalyptus has wispy long leaves. Agonis however, has a stunning burgundy and green tone. It is ideal for fall weddings as it gives the perfect backdrop to show off those deep yellows and burnt oranges. Agonis can be found year-round but technically is in season from June to December. It is one the most expensive greenery options available but we think it's totally worth the extra bucks. We give agonis a $$$ our of $$$$$ on the expensive scale.
